about the event

A Community of Practice is an opportunity for College of Engineering faculty to exchange ideas, resources, and best practices. These sessions are co-facilitated by CRLT-Engin staff and CoE faculty to provide an exchange of ideas, resources, and best practices associated with remote teaching. Discussion topics for each meeting are typically generated by faculty.

Existing Communities of Practice have formed around the following themes: design coursesfirst-year programslab courses, and lecturesYou are invited to participate in an existing Community of Practice or submit ideas for new topics.

Upcoming Communities of Practice

Design Courses

Engineering design courses tend to be hands-on, requiring students to learn through experience — which can present challenges in a remote environment. In this Community of Practice, we will discuss ideas, best practices, and faculty experiences with remote design courses.

First Year Programs (ENGR 100)

Engineering 100 is a student’s first taste of what it is to be a practicing engineer. The courses are designed to simulate a real-world engineering environment where teamwork, communication, and creativity are the keys to success. In this Community of Practice, we are exchanging best practices and resources including strategies to make first-year programs collaborative and engaging in a remote environment.
