CANVAS HANDS-ON WORKSHOP

In response to the interest expressed by those who attended the Symposium on Engineering Teaching and Learning, Nexus is offering a Canvas workshop for members of the U-M Engineering instructional community. 

This 4-hour session will provide step-by-step, hands-on training for instructors using the platform to manage their online courses. Attendees may join individual sessions or attend the entire event.

SCHEDULE

All sessions are Eastern Time.

  • 1:00 – 2:00 PMSESSION #1 – Canvas Setup and Use of a Master Schedule with Session Links
    NOTE: Attendees are expected to bring a sample syllabus (Word doc) ready for conversion to Canvas.
  • 2:00 – 3:00 PM: SESSION #2 – Creating Assignments and Enhanced Online Exams
    NOTE: Attendees are expected to bring sample exam questions with images (in a Word doc) ready for conversion to Canvas.
  • 3:00 – 4:00 PM: SESSION #3 – Virtual Office Hours and Setup of Collaboration Tools
  • 4:00 – 5:00 PM: SESSION #4 – Open Forum 
    NOTE: Attendees are encouraged to submit questions in advance for discussion.
