Introducing Interim Executive Director Dr. Hammett

On September 1, Dr. Hammett assumed the executive director responsibilities from Diane Landsiedel. Diane led the department for 9 years and helped to build Nexus into a growing education hub. As she transitions into retirement, she will continue to work on special projects for the College. Michigan Engineering and Team Nexus are grateful to Diane for her years served. Thanks to the solid foundation Diane helped to build, Dr. Hammett is well positioned to lead Team Nexus into the future.

No stranger to Nexus, Dr. Hammett has been an integral part of the team since the department was established in 2019 and before. Prior to this new appointment, Dr. Hammett was the Director of Faculty Innovation for Nexus. His experience in teaching, mentoring, and supporting faculty will be vital to the growth of online and professional education through Michigan Engineering.

Dr. Hammett looks forward to tackling new challenges in his role as interim executive director. He says, “I am honored to step into this interim role as executive director. I have been with Nexus since its inception, and I strongly believe in the importance of high-quality online and professional education. Moving forward, our team will continue to excel at our current projects as I step into position to guide us toward new growth.”

An educator throughout his career, Dr. Hammett will remain the Lead Faculty for Michigan Engineering’s Six Sigma programs while balancing the responsibilities as executive director. Because of Dr. Hammett’s familiarity with Nexus, the transition has been smooth, and Team Nexus is ready for the next steps and ready to support even more lifelong learners.
